Danna Harman is a journalist, writer, and advocate for refugees whose work over the past three decades has taken her across Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, Central Asia, Europe, and North America.

As Africa Bureau Chief for The Christian Science Monitor, based in Nairobi, she reported extensively from across Sub-Saharan Africa on politics, business, development, culture, and social change. She later served as the newspaper’s Latin America Bureau Chief, based in Mexico City, before joining Haaretz, where she worked as a staff writer based in Tel Aviv, London, and Paris.

Alongside her journalism, Danna has worked on humanitarian and educational initiatives in a range of international settings. Most recently, she served as the Associate Dean of Displaced Students at Bard College in New York, supporting refugee and conflict-affected students from around the world.

Danna holds a BA in History from Harvard University and an MPhil in Islamic Studies from Cambridge University, and lives, today, by the sea in Jaffa.
